Legal terms and conditions for our vehicle transport services

1. Introduction

Welcome to Car Transport UK. These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of our vehicle transport services and website. By using our services, you agree to be bound by these Terms.

Car Transport UK arranges professional vehicle transport across the UK. All actual transport services are carried out by independent third-party carriers ("Transport Providers"). Our role is to facilitate bookings and ensure your transport is arranged efficiently.

2. Definitions

  • "Company," "we," "us," "our": Car Transport UK
  • "Customer," "you," "your": The person or entity using our services
  • "Services": Vehicle transport arrangements we make on your behalf
  • "Transport Provider": The third-party carrier who performs the actual vehicle movement
  • "Vehicle": Any motor vehicle, motorcycle, or other transportable unit

3. Services Provided

We arrange:

  • Vehicle transport by road (driven, flatbed, or enclosed transport)
  • Multi-vehicle and fleet transport
  • Emergency and breakdown collection
  • Specialist, event, and exhibition vehicle collection

4. Booking and Quotations

  • Quotations are valid for 30 days and based on the information you provide.
  • Prices may vary if details change (vehicle type, access, delays).
  • Full payment is required to confirm a booking.
  • We reserve the right to refuse service at our discretion.

5. Customer Responsibilities

  • Vehicles must be accessible, legal, and safe for transport (unless specifically agreed otherwise).
  • Personal belongings must be removed; items left inside are at your own risk.
  • You must provide correct collection/delivery addresses, keys, and documentation (V5C, MOT, proof of ownership/authorisation).

6. Payment Terms

  • Payment methods: bank transfer, debit/credit card, or by prior arrangement.
  • All prices are quoted in GBP and include VAT where applicable.
  • Late payment may result in additional charges or suspension of service.

7. Cancellations & Refunds

Customer Cancellation (Car Transport UK Policy):

  • More than 72 hours before collection → Full refund (minus our non-refundable admin/service fee, minimum £99).
  • 48–72 hours before collection → 50% refund.
  • Less than 48 hours before collection or no-show → No refund.
  • All cancellations must be made in writing (email).
  • Refunds are processed within 14 working days.

Company Cancellation:

If a Transport Provider cancels, you will receive a refund in line with their policy. Our admin/service fee remains non-refundable.

8. Liability & Insurance

  • All Transport Providers are required to hold their own motor trade or carriage insurance.
  • We do not provide insurance. Any claims for loss, theft, or damage must be made directly against the Transport Provider.
  • We are not liable for:
    • Pre-existing damage not noted at collection
    • Mechanical or electrical failures during transport
    • Delays, missed connections, or consequential losses (e.g. flights, storage, business costs)
    • Personal items left in vehicles

9. Force Majeure

We shall not be liable for any failure or delay due to circumstances beyond our reasonable control, including severe weather, road closures, industrial action, government restrictions, or similar events.

10. Data Protection

We process personal data in line with our Privacy Policy and UK GDPR.

11. Complaints & Disputes

  • Complaints must be made in writing within 14 days of service completion.
  • We will acknowledge within 5 working days and respond within 28 days.
  • These Terms are governed by English law; disputes fall under the exclusive jurisdiction of the English courts (Scottish law applies for customers in Scotland).

12. Prohibited Vehicles

We may refuse to arrange transport for vehicles that:

  • Have illegal modifications
  • Contain hazardous materials
  • Lack proper documentation
  • Pose safety risks

13. Changes to Terms

We reserve the right to amend these Terms at any time. Updated Terms will apply to new bookings.
